Title: These six air compressors, manufactured by the Jaeger China Machine Company of Canada Ltd., in St. Thomas, were on their way to Nepal in December 1958. The machines were purchased by the General Services Administration of the United States and were to be used for air hammers on construction projects in Nepal. The order for the compressors, valued at about ,000, was given to the Jaeger Co. as the result of competitive bidding on the contract by manufacturers in Canada and the U.S.A. Prior to this order, similar machines had been shipped to Turkey, Saigon, Vietnam and the Philippines. Here, checking the shipment as it is about to be packed is Hubert Frank, fitter, left, and John Shaw, traffic manager.

World’s largest, heaviest operational steam locomotive – digitized Slide film

Union Pacific 3985 is a 4-6-6-4 steam locomotive built in 1943 by the American Locomotive Company. Retired around 1962, it was upgraded from a coal to an oil burning unit in 1990 to prevent ashes causing fires along the tracks. Here, the locomotive is clearing the summit of the Cajon pass in California.
